Brighter Futures runs a number of projects and initatives to support its work in developing fair trade. These include:
In addition to the Brighter Futures work to assist small scale businesses and people to develop skills and income we do also from time to time support individuals and families who are not able to generate income from trade. Dick Sisman, Chairman of Brighter Futures has set up a process called Helping Hands for this purpose.

For the past year we have helped one family where the father lost both legs through diabetes and is now unable to work as a school teacher. Through the generosity of a tour operator we have supplied a shower and toilets for the extended family and a recent donation from a leading tourism industry figure is allowing us to fund schooling for two of the very bright children in the compound - Bibi and Mariama.
Dick Sisman has also helped one of the elder daughters to set up a dress sales business which should bring much needed income to help to support the compound. Other support is planned for the extended family of over 30 people.
Although Brighter Futures is not a charity we do seek to ensure that our support extends beyond those who are able bodied and can generate an income to those who in addition to being economically disadvantaged have greater adversities to face.
